About the hand-wound cotton Each shade is wound by hand from cotton string, so winding density, edge-line placement, and tone vary slightly between pieces — part of the handmade character, not a defect. Spot-clean only with a dry or barely damp cloth; do not machine wash, soak, or submerge the shade. Use an LED bulb only The shade is cotton and heat-sensitive. Use a cool-running LED bulb only — no incandescent or halogen — and stay within the rated wattage. LEDs run cool and are the correct choice for a fabric shade.
