The glass diffuses the bulb behind it into a calm, even sphere of warm light: no hotspot, no glare, no visible filament. The wood is finished in a clear water-based varnish that keeps the natural grain open and visible, so the disk reads as a piece of wood rather than a painted object. Sized at 25 cm overall with an 18 cm globe and a 14 cm projection from the wall, the Brevin works at scale beside a bed, beside a hallway mirror, on a stair landing, or as a paired set down a passage. The wood disk is a solid block, hand-turned and hand-finished, so grain pattern, knot placement, and overall color depth shift slightly from piece to piece. The supplier also hand-measures each disk, which means the overall diameter and wall projection can vary by 1–3 cm. Treat the photo as a representative sample of the family — your sconce will share the same overall character but carry its own grain. Where should I place it? The Brevin works in any spot where soft, indirect light beats overhead lighting. Standard placements: 60–65 cm above a nightstand surface (so the bulb sits roughly at seated head height, not glaring), 150–160 cm above the floor in a hallway (eye level for adults), or as a paired set framing a mirror or piece of artwork. Its 14 cm wall projection means it does sit out from the wall — keep at least 5 cm clearance from corners or door frames so the disk has room to breathe, and avoid placements where you'd brush past it in tight passages. What bulb works best, and can I dim it? One E26 medium-base bulb, up to 60 W (or LED equivalent) — choose a warm 2700–3000K bulb to flatter the wood tone and give the frosted glass a natural glow. A19, G16.5, and G25 globe shapes all fit inside the shade, and E27 bulbs work without an adapter. To dim, use a dimmable LED bulb paired with a dimmable wall switch on the same circuit — there's no built-in dimmer on the fixture itself. Do I need an electrician to install it? Strongly recommended. The Brevin is hardwired — it connects to a wall junction box and wires into your home's electrical supply.
